The Magic She Left Behind
Beverly Elaine Longerbeam
May 14, 1952 – August 12, 2022
Some people leave behind more than memories. They leave behind a feeling of home, a lifetime of love, and little moments that stay with us forever. Beverly Elaine Longerbeam was one of those people.
Born in Hagerstown, Maryland, Beverly lived a life centered around the people and simple pleasures she loved most. From Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, to Keedysville, Maryland, and eventually Conway, South Carolina, her greatest happiness was found not in grand things, but in the everyday moments that made life beautiful.
Beverly had a special appreciation for nature. She loved her flowers, bushes, and birds, and could spend hours sitting on her porch, simply enjoying the world around her. She found peace in those quiet moments, surrounded by the beauty of the outdoors.
The beach was another place that brought her happiness. She loved spending time there with her family, walking along the sand, watching the waves, and visiting the pier. She also enjoyed going out for a good meal, especially at Captain George's or Nacho Hippo.
But above everything else, Beverly's greatest love was her family.
She was a devoted mother to Darin, Tonia, and Tammy, and a proud grandmother and great-grandmother. After retiring from working outside the home, she created something especially meaningful: “Nanny's Daycare.” It was her way of spending her days caring for her grandchildren and the children of family friends.
For Beverly, being a grandmother wasn't simply a title. It was part of who she was. Through the countless ordinary days spent together, she helped create memories her family would carry for a lifetime.
Beverly shared 46 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Sylvestor Leroy Longerbeam, who was not only her husband but her soulmate and best friend. Together, they built a life filled with family, love, and memories that would endure long beyond their years together.
Christmas at Nanny's House
For Beverly, Christmas was never just another holiday. It was a season filled with magic, family, and memories waiting to be made.
At her home in Keedysville, Maryland, Christmas came to life in the most wonderful ways. Outside, colorful, glowing blow molds transformed her yard into a festive display. Inside, her basement became a Christmas wonderland, filled with the warmth and excitement of the season.
But some of the most treasured moments weren't found in the decorations. They were made together, creating salt dough ornaments by hand. Simple pieces of dough became something far more meaningful — little keepsakes of laughter, togetherness, and time spent with Nanny.
Those ornaments were more than decorations. They were memories that could be held, hung on a Christmas tree, and cherished year after year.
Today, the magic of Christmas at Beverly's house lives on in the hearts of those who experienced it. The glowing decorations, the handmade ornaments, and the wonder of her Christmas-filled home are reminders of the love she shared.
Because the greatest gift Beverly gave at Christmas wasn't something wrapped beneath the tree. It was the memories she created with the people she loved.
The Memories She Left Behind
On August 12, 2022, Beverly passed away at the age of 70. But the love she gave and the memories she created did not end that day.
Her story continues through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and everyone whose life was touched by her kindness.
It lives in the sight of a bird outside the window, the beauty of flowers in bloom, the sound of ocean waves, and the simple comfort of being surrounded by family.
And when Christmas comes around, her memory shines a little brighter. In the glow of Christmas lights, the sight of a familiar decoration, or a handmade ornament hanging from a tree, there is a reminder of the wonder she created and the love she shared so freely.
Beverly's life was not defined simply by the years she lived, but by the love she gave, the family she cherished, and the countless moments that became treasured memories.
Though she may no longer be here to celebrate Christmas with those she loved, the magic she created will always be part of theirs.
Forever loved. Forever remembered. Forever Nanny.

"Your love is still a part of every Christmas we share."
